Over 55's new to WPFC in 2024!

NSFA are set to expand competition offerings in 2023 by offering a Men’s Over 55 competition to cater for the growing number of ‘Overs’ players that continue to be in involved in the world game.

This IS NOT walking football.  It is a full field football experience the same as the current Over 35s and Over 45''s.

NSFA first floated the idea with clubs in 2020 and has since gained traction and support of many within the Men’s Over 45 community. NSFA proceeded with a Senior Men’s Over 55 competition in the 2023 Winter season and will likely grow to a 2 division competition in the 2024 season.

“Men’s Over 55 option allows those players that want to keep on playing the opportunity to do so against people in a similar age bracket,” explains NSFA CEO.

WPFC will field its first Over 55's team in the 2024 winter season.

All players are welcome, from those who have never played football before, to those who played in their school days and haven't touched a ball since.

One of our successes is that Saturday afternoon games are a family function with wives, partners, and kids coming along to watch and cheer. The partners develop their own friendships while occasionally actually watching the game! A relaxed atmosphere is indeed enjoyed.

Our partners have discovered what we have known all along - the enjoyment of playing football, the fun within the team spirit and the personal gain from competitive sport.

FAQs

What is the standard like? Do I need to have played before?

The club accommodates for different skill levels.  Many players are returning to the game they played in their youth and some are first time players and coming across from other sports.

When and where are the games played?

Games are played at either 1:00pm or 3:00pm on a Saturday.  Home games are at Norman Griffiths Oval, Comenarra Field or Mimosa Oval.  Away games are all around the upper North Shore .

What commitment do I need to make?

For your own benefit, you should aim to be present for at least 80% of games.  Holidays and work commitments will mean people will inevitably miss some games but the squad size accommodates this. Let the team managers know at the start of the season if you know you will be away for a large period of time. We can work with most schedules but may need to have additional players in the team if you are expecting a longer absence,

Do the teams train?

Training is optional and held on Wednesdays from 7:30pm till 9:00pm.  It is not compulsory to train but all players are encouraged to attend on the night with their team.

What equipment do I need?

You will need club playing shirt, and club shorts and socks which can be purchased from the club.  You will also need football boots and shin pads.

How much does it cost?

Please see the club fees page for the info.

What social events take place?

We have several family orientated nights throughout the year that are hugely successful and well attended.  These strengthen the bonds and friendships between players and teams. It also includes wives and kids, making them great social occasions, watch the website for more details.

We also have player functions during the year and always a drink after training. We are fortunate to have the resources of the West Pymble Bicentennial Club at our disposal, who always keep the bar open for after training team talks.
