Artificial surface @ Norman Griffiths
The club is investigating a proposal for the installation of an artificial pitch on Norman Griffiths Oval.
Benefits of the project include: - Increase in usage of the oval of approximately 2.5 times current usage during the winter season - Usage of the oval during the off-season (currently we are limited to 4 pre-season days only during the off-season as pre-season dates used for grading) - Hosting of matches at alternate times including Friday nights and Saturday nights - Hosting of miniroos matches for juniors - Increased summer football competition or training use of the oval - Significantly increased access to the oval for pre-season training and training during the season - Significantly more competition matches - Greater use of the canteen and clubhouse including social events
If WPFC members ultimately provide support for the Norman Griffiths Oval artificial pitch project and associated funding arrangements, the WPFC Committee will be committed to ensuring that all members have access to use of the artificial pitch after it is installed.
We have set up a tax deductible donation facility to fund this project with the Australian Sports Foundation - just click on the link below to make a donation which is available now to be included as a deduction for you or your business. https://asf.org.au/project/norman-griffiths-oval-artificial-pitch-installation There's more detail on our website.
We are aware that there is a consultation process we intend to go through with our members before committing to the project and we plan to do this over the next 6 months. The Australian Sports Foundation have provided assurance that if the project were not to proceed, donated funds could be redirected to other facilities improvements. This provides certainty for donors that the tax deductible status of their donations will be preserved even if the Norman Griffiths Oval artificial pitch project were not to proceed.
Say goodbye to oval closures due to rain...
