Norman Griffiths Oval Artificial Turf Project
We are thrilled to announce that the artificial turf project at Norman Griffiths Oval has been approved by Ku-Ring-Gai Municipal Council in late 2020. This will make our home ground one of the most playable and practical all-weather fields of the lower north shore.
Norman Griffiths Oval is one of just two full-sized football pitches that West Pymble Football Club has access to as a home ground during the Winter competition season. Our club has over 940 registered players and currently lacks the number of pitches required to adequately meet the training and competition match demands of these players, and the provision of an artificial pitch will greatly increase our capacity to provide the right environment to accommodate these needs.
Currently, Ku-Ring-Gai Municipal Council provides our club with quite limited access to Norman Griffiths Oval for Summer football and during the pre-season, as this period is typically used to repair and recover the ground for the upcoming season.
A typical grass pitch it weather dependent and quickly becomes unplayable after rain. Below are some photos of our current ground at various points - ranging from a lake after rainfall, to lush grass on an uneven surface that is equally as difficult on play on.

An artificial pitch would allow the club's members and players from other clubs to enjoy usage of the ground during periods outside of the winter football competition season. It would also enable matches to be held in wet weather when turf grounds are closed.
The all weather surface will indeed be a great transformation for the club. We are keenly looking forward to work progressing on the build of the pitch in the latter part of 2021 with a target completion in 2022. Another great reason to become a Pymble Player.
